Power Drill, Phillips head driver bit , Drill bit, Leveler, stud finder (optional)
Step 1:
Work out desired positioning of shelf. Mark out line with pencil along the wall where shelf will be positioned. Mark out on wall where the center of the bracket will be positioned.
Step 2:
Locate position of studs with stud finder. If a stud finder isn't available tap along the wall listening for a change in sound. Punch a hole in the wall where the shelf will be positioned to confirm timber stud location. (Be careful not to punch any holes further past where the shelf will be positioned)
Mark out along bracket positioning of studs and pre-drill bracket.
Step 3:
Starting with one side drill first screw (75mm) threw bracket and into timber stud, keep loose enough to adjust level of bracket.
Place leveler on bracket and align to a level position. Whilst level insert the rest of the screws into the bracket. Bracket should be firmly fixed against wall without moving.
Step 5:
Check that bracket is secure and firmly fixed in place. Slide shelf over bracket. If desired, to prevent possible movement of shelf affix short screws (38mm) into back of shelf on the side best hidden from view. (Be wary of getting too close to wall and marking wall with the spinning chuck of drill whilst doing so)
Notes:
Wall anchors or plugs may be used if there is no timber. If not affixed to timber studs the weight the shelf can support will be lessened.
These floating shelves are practical shelving solutions that look fantastic and will last a life time if looked after. They can be cleaned with any domestic cleaning liquid.
